The California Air Resources Board (CARB) recently passed the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation (ACF), a medium and heavy-duty zero-emission fleet regulation. The goal of this regulation is to achieve a zero-emission truck and bus California fleet. The regulation affects medium- and heavy-duty on-road vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) greater than 8,500 pounds, off-road yard tractors, and light-duty mail and package delivery vehicles. Starting in 2024, only zero-emission trucks may be added to drayage service, and legacy vehicles must be removed from drayage service at the end of their useful life. This applies to Class 7-8 on-road trucks operating at California's seaports and intermodal railyards. Interested in transitioning to an electric fleet but don't know where to start? Additionally, staying ahead of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) changes in maintenance grade guidelines can ensure your fleet is moving rapidly through checkpoints and not pulled aside for a 30 minute inspection. Regulations like these can sound startling, inopportune, and expensive! Meet Michael Goldsmith
SWAN Account Manager Thanks to his extensive work with leading industry associations and partners, SWAN's Michael Goldsmith is best equipped to quickly and effectively addresses our customers' needs. A graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Accountancy, Michael carries TRS (MCIEF) and AIS designations, a DOT mechanic certification, and is completing his Certified Safety Supervisor (NATMI) designation. Michael has been jeepin' around and living the dog dad life! He enjoys grilling and outdoor cooking, boxing, his family-owned craft micro-brewery, parks and beaches with his dog Joshka and much more.
