Welcome,
This month, we're highlighting two important strategic options for optimizing and growing your fleet business.
The first is a structural approach to managing insurance called a "captive" arrangement. This idea involves a group of similar fleet owners creating a company to pool their policies and save money along with other benefits.
The second topic offers an example of how applying the latest technologies can have a significant impact on your business. In this case, we're sharing a resource designed to improve vehicle tracking and management through telematics.
Potential Benefits of a Captive Insurance Structure
A "captive" insurance arrangement is an option where insurance is provided to a group and is controlled by its owners or parent company. This approach can be especially beneficial for fleets that don't have many claims.
The ROI can be substantial. For example, if the insurance policy costs $1 million and your fleet experienced $50,000 in claims, there may be an opportunity to reclaim $250,000 in premiums! Other advantages can include a determination of premiums that's insulated from market conditions.
To enter into a captive group, a fleet needs to undergo a review and approval process. SWAN's team of experts can help you evaluate whether entering into a captive group would be beneficial to your fleet in reducing costs and optimizing you operations. Email our Director of Transportation Marc Crawford or schedule a call with him for more information.

Technology Drives Innovation, Efficiency & Performance
In today's fast-paced and highly competitive business environment, it's critical that businesses of all types stay on top of the latest tech advancements, especially the trucking industry.
One example is an insurtech company called Nirvana whose mission is "to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance." Nirvana's technology uses telematics and AI to unlock savings, rate stability, and claims protection for fleet operators while improving safety and reducing risk.
Nirvana uses a sophisticated fleet monitoring system to proactively track data such as vehicle location, driving speed, harsh braking, trucks down for repairs, and driver hours per day. Insights like these can influence significant improvements in fleet operations as well as cost savings on insurance and beyond.
We're here to help you find the right technology resources for your business. Contact us to explore this and other technology opportunities for you and your business.

Intel for Cross-Border Trucking Operators
For fleets engaged in cross-border activity, here are some key 2025 trends:
• Smart security solutions
• Automated border processing
• AI-powered route optimization
• Internet of Things (IoT) integration
• Blockchain in customs clearance
Other considerations include making sure your coverage includes specialized aspects such as transfer insurance and health insurance coverage for drivers on both sides of the border.
You also need to be fully aware of policy renewal dates and allow enough time to make an informed decision. We can help with a proven 120-day process that covers all the bases. To further help you get the coverage you need, a great way to start is our free yard visits.
Let us know how we can be of assistance in any of these areas to support the growth and profitability of your fleet. Email Kevin Mealey or schedule a call by clicking below.

The conference covered key topics including customs regulations, import valuation, tariff classification, trade agreements, and exam strategies. Beyond the curriculum, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry professionals and strengthen valuable trade relationships.
