Workshop at BraunAbility to Focus
on Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles Next month, I'm participating in a special event hosted by our friends at BraunAbility, the largest producer of aftermarket vehicles with ramps and lifts. Their invitation-only, hands-on WAV Workshop will cover the latest in wheelchair accessible vehicles. I'll have a unique opportunity to gain essential knowledge on WAV testing, securement, wheelchairs, vehicle options and innovations in mobility while networking with industry leaders. In addition, I've been invited to serve as a co-presenter on the topic of Product Safety and Compliance, covering key aspects of rigorous testing and regulatory adherence in the transportation industry. The event includes an open house and tour of the BraunAbility production facility in Winamac, Indiana. We'll also convene at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for some test laps around the track with clients! Stay tuned for updates following the event. Software Partner Offers Resource
for Special Needs Transportation Operators involved in door-to-door student transportation face unique challenges. These concerns are especially important when the situation includes special-needs youth, including McKinney-Vento students who are experiencing homelessness. Team Spotlight: Priscilla Diaz
We're pleased to introduce Priscilla Diaz is a new Account Manager with S.W.A.N. She began her insurance career in 2014 with Bertram Insurance, a provider of maritime coverage. Then, with seven years of cargo insurance under her belt, she joined Roanoke Insurance Group as an account manager for cargo and cargo legal liabilities. Priscilla has received designation as a Transportation Risk and Insurance Professional (TRIP) from the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI). She joined S.W.A.N. with the goal of expanding her involvement in the transportation industry. On the personal side, she values spending time with family. That family includes furry friends like a pitbull, two cats and a tortoise, Tortuga. She also enjoys attending concerts. |

TTA Webinar Series to Address
Essential Fleet Business Practices Sharing our expertise with others in the transportation industry is one way we help to enhance the success of fleet operators. Along that vein, I'll be a speaker during the upcoming Mastering Business Essentials webinar series hosted by The Transportation Alliance. The free, six-part series is designed to equip business owners, leaders and entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge to grow, protect and optimize their operations. Topics will include financial metrics, risk management, HR best practices, business succession, company policies and data integration. My one-hour presentation is set for April 25 at noon ET with a focus on strategic growth and risk control for NEMT fleets and insurance. Does Medicare Cover NEMT?
Here's What You Need to Know For many individuals who rely on NEMT for routine doctor visits, physical therapy, or dialysis, understanding Medicare coverage is crucial - and often confusing. It's also important to know that state Medicaid programs are required to cover NEMT for eligible individuals. What Medicare Covers • Medicare (Part B) may cover ambulance services if deemed medically necessary by a doctor. • Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans often include NEMT coverage for routine medical visits, but policies vary. What Medicare Does Not Cover • Rides for non-medical reasons (e.g., grocery shopping). • Standard transport without a physician's certification of necessity. How to Check Your Coverage • Contact your Medicare Advantage plan provider to confirm benefits. • Speak with your healthcare provider about authorization requirements. • Explore state-specific Medicaid programs required to cover NEMT for those who qualify.
