Welcome, May is a big month for motorsports and this highly popular category features in two of our recent activities. For example, a special highlight of an event held by BraunAbility was time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for laps around the famed circuit with clients. In addition, our Mexicali office has relocated to provide better service to fleets and is sponsoring the CG Motorsports offroad racing team out of San Diego. Some of the team cars will feature the S.W.A.N. logo on the side of the vehicles. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is overhauling its carrier identification system to phase out Motor Carrier (MC) numbers and transition entirely to USDOT numbers. The move is part of an effort to modernize carrier registration, reduce fraud, and streamline compliance processes. Learn more here. She has experience working with Farmers Insurance and recently earned her degree in business administration from San Diego State University. Team Spotlight: Pilar Figueroa Pilar has joined S.W.A.N. to support our customer service and sales teams. Pilar graduated in May 2024 from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration. She began her career in insurance in 2022 with Farmers Insurance where she focused on personal lines and built a strong foundation in customer service, policy management, and helping clients protect what matters most to them. Pilar is bilingual in English and Spanish, enabling us to continue connecting with a wide range of clients and provide the best possible service. Previously, Pilar worked in retail from the age of 16, eventually becoming a manager. She notes that those early experiences taught her the importance of customer service and sparked a passion for sales and building relationships. "I'm thrilled to be stepping into the world of commercial insurance here at S.W.A.N.," Pilar said. "I'm eager to learn, grow, and bring value to our clients and team every day." Outside of work, she loves traveling and exploring new places. Spending time with family and friends is very important to her. And, when it comes to food, sushi is always her "go-to" favorite. BraunAbility Event Hits Indy Motor Speedway This month, S.W.A.N. Director of Transportation and NEMT Program Leader Marc Crawford participated in a highly informative and enjoyable event hosted by BraunAbility, the largest producer of aftermarket vehicles with ramps and lifts. The event provided an invitation-only WAV Workshop focused on wheelchair accessible vehicles. In addition to learning about the latest technologies and best practices in this area, we had the opportunity to be a co-presenter on Product Safety and Compliance. Last, and certainly not least, attendees gathered at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for some exciting lap times around the track with clients! Webinar Addresses Impact of CSA Changes Our Account Manager, Michael Goldsmith, recently attended an important webinar hosted by the North American Transportation Management Institute. It was a valuable experience for Michael, as a certified Transportation Risk Manager, to learn about pending CSA changes. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has indicated they will move forward with significant changes to the Compliance, Safety and Accountability program. The webinar addressed what this action can mean for carriers and drivers. Opportunities like this help us stay on top of the latest trends on behalf of our valued fleet clients.
