A key takeaway from the event was a list of the top 10 issues facing the trucking industry, according to the American Transportation Research Institute. The 10 top issues are: 1. Rising insurance premiums and the shrinking      availability of affordable coverage 2. Late loss reporting and its direct impact      on claims outcomes and costs 3. Driver culture to build an environment where      reporting is required, not feared 4. Timely evidence window as dashcam footage,      ELD data, witness statements may disappear fast 5. Knowing the claimant and how that can change exposure dramatically 6. Small accidents becoming catastrophic losses due to delayed response 7. Attorney involvement before knowing a claim exists 8. Self-handling incidents to "save money" that can backfire badly 9. The gap between policy promises and what is actually received when reporting is late 10. In-Person Interaction Builds Cross-Border Relationships Events continue to be a major source of forging strong relationships in the world of cross-border transportation. Expanding our presence and deepening bonds with partners and fleet customers alike is truly gratifying. We just returned from DMEMS, the Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. DMEMS is a high-value gathering for the electronics, medical and biotech industries. The two-day event is packed with seminars and opportunities to showcase products and services to professionals in Southern California and Northern Baja Mexico. Another notable opportunity on the horizon is the annual golf tournament hosted by the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Set for May 1 at the Willow Glen Golf Course at Sycuan, the competition will be spirited on the links and the camaraderie lively over carne asada and margaritas. In another format altogether, S.W.A.N. Transportation Risk Specialist Michael Goldsmith was a featured guest on a webinar hosted by the Otay Mesa Chamber. The topic was "Truck Driver Safety & Incident Response." Also on the panel of guests were Sergeant Eduardo Gurrola of the California Highway Patrol and Carlos Ursua, COO of New Horizon Insurance Company. We were pleased to lend our expertise to this very important issue for fleet safety managers.

BraunAbility Partners with Kia and Offers Indy Experience Our NEMT friends and partners at BraunAbility have shared some exciting news. First off, Kia and BraunAbility have unveiled an all-electric, wheelchair-accessible taxi and rideshare concept for New York. To help reduce the complexity of modification and allow conversion partners to provide optimum quality while reducing cost, the Kia PV5 EV platform has been engineered to support wheelchair-accessible conversions. And, later this year, BraunAbility will once again hold its Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Workshop in Indiana. A special highlight of the event is an opportunity to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, experience pit row and view race practice laps.
